should I buy more skincare or beauty products? which one should I choose?

Today I am going to discuss my opinion on whether one should invest in more skincare products or makeup. This is all my own opinion which you might not agree to. I would love to share some of my thoughts on this topic since the skincare game is going much stronger than makeup these days in the beauty community.

buy less makeup? only buy makeup that sparks joy. how to really be a smart consumer.

buy less makeup? only buy makeup that sparks joy. how to really be a smart consumer.

Today I am not doing my usual blog posts where I recommend you all products that work well with oily/combination and acne prone skin. I want to share my thoughts on the notion of “buying/wearing less makeup”. I think when it comes to the beauty industry, it is obviously the ‘heaven’ to all the beauty lovers out there but it can really be seen as a massive trap which attracts us as consumers to purchase a lot of unnecessary impulsive buys. Everytime when I go into Mecca (Australia’s leading beauty retailer) or Sephora, I would somehow manage to come out of the store with 1+ item(s) even though I am really broke ~ bank account is crying ~ I have caught myself doing this for a while now and it needs to be stopped. I am just like you, one of the ‘victims’, always buying similar products or stuff that are not going to be used for long.

raw review: FLUFF

raw review: FLUFF

Today I am back from my recent Melbourne trip, it was like a little getaway and plus visiting my closest friend Zoe who is studying in Melbourne University. One of the places I wanted to visit when I was over there was definitely the Fluff Casual Cosmetics‘ Studio at Fitzroy. I have been their biggest fan since the beginning of this year when I found it via Shelby’s instagram page. Also, I want to start a blog series called “raw review” which I will be reviewing brands with unpaid and most genuine thoughts on their products. Everything I will be showing today and in the future will be products that are bought by my own money.

Click the little “read more” tab to check out Fluff’s products and my own experience, and most importantly, is it worth it?

beauty/skincare products that did not work for me #1

beauty/skincare products that did not work for me #1

At some point in life, we would all come across beauty and skincare products that just do not work for us. Due to the different skin types and conditions, not every products would be necessarily work for you. Today, I would like to share some of the products that I believe they are just a hot mess or just an fail match to me. Please note that I love these brands and own other products from the brands but the following products just were kind of like a nightmare to me. If you have sensitive, oily/combination skin, light to medium skin colour, dry hair roots or with Asian complexion (olive/yellow undertones), these might be helpful tips on not to try these products out.

and it begins … â™¡

and it begins … â™¡

My name is Charlene, 19 years old, living in Sydney Australia and I have been blogging for a long time on WordPress. A few years ago I decided to stop my blogging journey because I did not feel inspired by the things I was passionate about + I was going through changes from high school to university.

So why did I decide to create a brand new blog and ditching the one I still have – Basic Spirit Blog . because I felt like I have changed my style and how I really wanted to approach to my audience; therefore it would be beneficial for me to start from the scratch.

As a 19 years old girl living in a major city, I have noticed how skincare has really changed my outlook in life and how the products make me feel way more confident. Through this platform, I mainly want to introduce you to my swear-by products for mostly combination/oily skin friends and featuring Australia local brands as I have always loved supporting small businesses.

So what can you expect from this blog? I would give you the best insight to my skincare routine and update you all on new products that I have been trying, whether they really work or not. I will also find deal and cheaper alternatives for luxury skincare brands to cater for those who just want to try the formula out but do not wish to pay a massive amount of money on it yet.

Stay tune to this page and I hope we can get connected real soon!

Thank you!

Charlene ♡
